INFORMATION FROM CITY HALL

Please prepare for the typhoon!

[Advance preparation]
As a typhoon approaches, it can bring heavy rain and strong winds, which can cause river flooding, landslides, and sometimes power outages.
Knowing about daily precautions and evacuation procedures can help prevent and reduce damage.
We encourage all residents to check the following in advance to prepare.
? Pay attention to the latest information such as "Typhoon Information" and "Warnings and Advisories" issued by the government.

? Securely lock windows and shutters, and secure or store indoors anything that may be blown away by the wind.
? In preparation for a power outage, check your emergency supplies, such as flashlights, portable radios (with batteries), and backup power sources.
? In preparation for a water outage, secure drinking water and other supplies, and fill the bathtub with water to secure water for daily life.
? Check contact details with your family in advance and check nearby areas.

[Evacuation recommendations have been consolidated into Evacuation Order]
Due to the revision of the Basic Act on Disaster Countermeasures, the evacuation information issued by the city in the event of heavy rain, typhoons, etc. has changed as follows from May 20, 2021.
- The previous alert level 4 "Evacuation advisory/evacuation order" has been consolidated into alert level 4 "Evacuation order".
When an "evacuation order" is issued, it is a situation where there is a high risk of disaster. Be sure to evacuate from dangerous places.
- The previous alert level 3 "Evacuation preparation/start evacuation of elderly people, etc." has been changed to alert level 3 "Evacuation of elderly people, etc."
When an "evacuation of elderly people, etc." is issued, it is a situation where there is a risk of disaster. Elderly people, people with disabilities, families with infants, pregnant women, and other people who are thought to take time to evacuate should begin evacuation. In addition, people other than the elderly should refrain from going out as necessary and make preparations for evacuation and evacuate on their own.
