Hikonyan
Hikonyan is a character created in Hikone, Japan.
The character is derived from a legend associated with Lord Ii Naotaka, the second lord of the Hikone domain.
The legend is that on a stormy day, Lord Ii Naotaka was beckoned by a white cat to take shelter in a temple, where he escaped being struck by lightning. He was very grateful to the cat and cherished it. The cat became famous in Japan as a "beckoning cat" that beckons good luck.
Hikonyan's samurai helmet is based on Ii's red armor, which is housed in the Hikone Castle Museum.
Hikonyan won first place in a local character popularity contest.

Iinosuke is a character created in Hikone, Japan.
He is a descendant of a ninja who has been called "Iga-sha" in Hikone for a long time. His special skill is ninjutsu. He sometimes walks around Hikone with Hikonyan.
